Sockburn Hall, Sockburn near Darlington
Sockburn Hall is a gloriously atmospheric neo-Jacobean house, built in around 1834. It is the focus of a deeply admirable restoration project, organised by its current owners with work carried out by enthusiastic volunteers over weekends. English Heritage, who have earmarked the building as being 'at risk', have recently provided funding for some much needed roof works. For further information visit the project's blogspot. |
