Earlstoun Castle, St John's Town of Dalry, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
The emergency works to this sixteenth century tower house are now complete and the exterior of the building is looking splendid. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the interior. As you may remember the Trustees went forward with a package of works to stop the structural decay of the tower. We are now seeking support for the internal works, including restoration works for the exceptionally fine seventeenth century panelling which used to adorn the first floor great chamber. A total of £600,000 is required, of which we have some funds already pledged.
For details of the work still be undertaken at the Castle, including funding opportunities, please contact the Vivat office on 01981 550753. |
